I have ideas. A lot of ideas. So many ideas in fact that they keep me awake.

Over the past few years our little media company (Caraway Media Group) has saved the gospel music industry tens of thousands of dollars by providing digital delivery of music to radio stations around the world. For less than the lost revenue from mailing out a dozen cds artists have been able to reach a radio station base that includes over 3200 stations and millions of listeners. What started as an idea that kept me up one night turned into a great tool for artists and record labels and radio promoters.

I heard this week from a group that was on a Canadian Tour that had radio media show up at one of the venues requesting a recorded interview and station liners at the event. (They brought recording equipment with them!) The group first thought the station media was there because the promoter had lined it up. ( The station which was in the promoters area never even heard about the event from the promoter… Another story still developing…) The group was amazed when they learned that the station was there because of Radioactive Airplay.Com. They recognized the group from the RAA site and wanted to be at the event to cover the group they had found on RAA.

So we do know how to save money and make connections between those who need to be connected.

Here is my billion dollar savings proposal for our school systems!

I’d like to make the following proposition to every school system in the nation. In so doing I can show them how to save millions and reduce the number of kids with spinal and back problems from carrying around backpacks with weights that rival what the military uses for boot camp training. (And every parent says AMEN!)

School systems let me introduce you to Amazon.Com and the Kindle!

How much money do schools <del datetime="2011-05-24T15:25:20+00:00">spend </del> waste on textbooks each year? Why not issue a Kindle to each child that will have ALL of the textbooks the child will need for that school year? In addition to the hundreds of dollars saved per student think of all the health care expenses for the future that will be saved as well!

The Kindle would provide an incentive for the kids who already embrace new technology and encourage them to learn! Not only that but each school would save classroom space because the school library would now become digital. Each school district could have 1 librarian who from a laptop on a beach could make book recommendations for each grade level. Save! Save! Save!

Building costs reduced… Text book costs slased ….. Employee costs reduced …. Health care costs reduced ….. 1 change = Billions Saved!

Will we ever see these type changes? Depends. Depends on the lobbing efforts by the Book Publishers and Librarians and Chiropractors and Builders. ( Or if the great collapse of 2012 hits first. )

Artists Join Together To Benefit The Southeast Tornado & Flood VictimsSomebody Cares for the Southeast Disaster Relief Benefit airs Sunday, May 22nd on FamilyNet

“The true character of a man or woman is made manifest through times of challenge.
Thank you to each of who have proven the substance of your character” –Doug Stringer, Founder & President of Somebody Cares

Hendersonville, TN (May 19, 2011) – That character was displayed when Christian and Country music artists came together Tuesday afternoon to lend their voices to the Somebody Cares for the Southeast Disaster Relief Benefit Special, hosted by Gary Chapman. The two-hour special, collectively produced by Daywind Records, New Day Distribution, FamilyNet and NorthStar studios, was created to raise funds for Somebody Cares, a Christian organization that works hand in hand with the Red Cross, FEMA, the Salvation Army and others. They currently have teams in Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee and Virginia assisting with everything from serving meals, removing debris and providing counseling. All of the artists, as well as the behind-the-scenes staff and crew, donated their time and talents to raise money for this organization, and in turn, make a difference to those affected by the deadly tornadoes.

Artists such as Danny Gokey, Michael English, Ray Stevens, Rachael Lampa, Karen Peck & New River, Montell Jordan and many others came out to support this great cause. For some, the reason they chose to participate in this benefit was a personal one. The accapella group, Committed, winner of NBC’s The Sing Off, were displaced from their homes in Huntsville, Alabama in the days following the storms. Lora Poore of the up-and-coming group, Faith 3, witnessed the storm’s devastation first-hand when the only part of the house remaining was the interior closet she and her family were in. These stories, and many more, will be included in the special, as these artists convey to viewers just how many families were personally affected by the storms.

“Today, I had the pleasure of interfacing with some who many would consider celebrity, yet who were willing to become part of something bigger than themselves to bring hope to those who have suffered so much in the recent tornado and flood stricken areas of our nation,” shares Doug Stringer, Founder and President of Somebody Cares America. “Their investment to participate in the Somebody Cares for the Southeast Disaster Relief Special was filled with moments of authentic compassion filled with emotion and, at times, tears. The sacrifice of their time will help to bring attention and awareness to the ongoing needs, even when most of the media shifts to other news stories. It will help to leverage and empower organizations and churches in their communities to continue to be a tangible expression of Christ love.”

The benefit special will initially air on FamilyNet on Sunday, May 22nd at 7:00 pm ET, and will continue to air repeatedly on FamilyNet, American Life Network, and other Christian networks. Check www.familynet.com or www.comstarmedia.com for more information on those airings.

To donate to this cause, simply text the word “icare” to 37284, or log onto www.somebodycares.org. You will be able to donate any amount, and it is all 100 % tax deductable. All of the proceeds go directly to Somebody Cares® to help the victims of this disaster.

Southern Gospel Artist, Janet Paschal just returned from Tuscaloosa, AL where she partnered with Comfort Care of Alabama for a Tornado Relief concert. On Thursday night $5,000 was raised and on Friday night in Brewton, AL the concert attendees added a truckload of basic essentials for the people of the state.

Janet was granted a behind-the-scenes tour of the hardest hit areas. Janet stated that amid the indescribable pictures it was encouraging to see the people and corporations who have joined hands, hearts, and logistics to reach out to the people of that area. Tide laundry set up a free washer and dryer facility along the main stretch of highway; next door was a makeshift Duracell battery charging station; at posts all throughout the worst areas the National Guard offered free water and tarps. Many national companies sent supplies, stations, and volunteers to work hands-on as the area begins a long recovery. Janet spent the day alternating between deep sadness and sheer pride at the response of a nation under God that does not wait to be asked, but who moves without hesitation to help someone whose need is more imminent.
